Would like to get advise on retirement in Mandeville or Montego Bay. Can someone advise if living on $1,700 per month in Jamaica is possible. Rent or mortgage is not included. Thank you.

Enough for what?? Living in Arnett Gardens?? It is a minimum amount of money for an American to live on in Jamaica. Have you thought about health care?? Food is very expensive in Jamaica, as is electricity. That is certainly a small budget - perhaps it might work in "country"

It really all depends on how and where you're going to live, but for us personally, it's not enough.

Good luck with your journey!

Hello Beverly,
In my humble opinion, I think US$1,700 =J$221,000 a month is more than enough for a retiree to live off in Jamaica.. the cost of living is less in Mandeville.. and Keeping in mind you said you have separate source of income to pay your mortgage..
