Should I freight my furniture or buy locally in Nbi

Our family of 4 are looking to relocate in Nbi for a period of 2 yrs. we are hoping to find a furnished apt to rent. Just incase we can't find what we like, would it be worth using a freight company to ship our furniture or cheaper to buy local furniture? I was looking at Furniture Palace and just a full bedroom set is about Kes 400,000/-
A Living room set cost Kes 400,000/-
I'm not sure what to expect with shipping my goods - will I have to pay duties? We are born Kenyans.

I would love to connect with anyone that has moved from Canada and learn from your experience.

Thanks
FazzyFay!

you can have local furniture makers make exactly what you like and also buy expensive imported furniture. No point transporting from your homecountry your selv. You can also rent a fully furnished apartment from me. That would be the easiest and cheapest solution,Kind regards John Carlsen [email protected]

No, I would not freight your furniture. For the cost of the shipping rate you can furnish a home with everything you need for two years, which in Nairobi will go by quickly. A trip down Ngong Rd with a local friend who speaks Swahili and you will find beautiful hand made furniture for the inside and out at a fraction of local stores. You can also purchase other household furnishings, and mainly, you will be supporting the local economy.

What properties do you have for rental? I'm interested in apartment on 6th parklands. And what is the rent for a 2-3 bed furnished apt in the same area?
