Mike, lots of stuff in the news, The Presidente say to keep away from events and stay indoors. The cops are getting killed. Not much security.

Post topic should tell you where the poster was talking about. I live in San Carlos and there are cops being murdered in Guaymas. Other than that it looks like normal around here. Same amount of folks going to Guaymas to shop, etc. I walk every morning and most evenings. I try to be in by dark if I am walking. Not much scuttle in the hood about the cartels and Guaymas.

Good to hear.

After reading the Presidente's announcement, it sounded like she has lost total security control. Sometimes (most times) news articles are a little dramatic.

Hrlee, keep alert and stay safe.

It looks as simple as cartel killing cops at random. The last article I read said 9 local Guaymas cops had just quit the force to find something less dangerous. I do see the Feds and military in the area now in force but it seems like business as usual for us not involved. Crossfire is my only concern and not even thinking about that....much!
Not much you can do if someone wants to 'out of the blue' shoot you. No one will identify the shooters even if they knew them as too much danger of repercussion. Kind of like having a free pass to kill. How and when does it get stopped? The process is simple......cartel gets active, military shows up 3 days later, cartel backs off, military backs off, cartel ramps up again.....and over and over again. Mexico like the rest of the world is losing the war on drugs. If you could stop the drug using you would stop the supply. I don't see that happening anytime soon. People are so fricking stupid!

To add to this - where I live now in Denver, Co = there are random shootings here.. not far in my "safe" neighborhood. I chose to not live in fear and paranoid.

Think about it. Where you sit in a restaurant? Where are alternative exits in the store? Situational awareness is part of Mexico street smarts. Practice it everywhere you go.

Basically I agree with you about the drug problem. They keep trying futilely trying control supply. Demand is what pushes it all . Time to look at it as a health problem and quit wasting a fortune and lives thinking you will
Stop the supply. When we had prohibition, it brought a huge amount of violence. The money is too good and as long as that is true, it wont end.

There is no more problems here, then some other places in Mexico or the US.
We are still going about our daily business, just as always.
Perhaps more alert to our surroundings, but the media does like to hype things up.
Our village is still the lovely place it’s always been.
I live here full time & the biggest problem is lack of water for the next 5? Days. New wells are coming on line & the end result will be a better supply.
Summer is always a challenge for water.
Don’t let fear keep you away from our Paradise on Earth.
