Does anyone know anything about Roma Property Management or La MIsion Apartments in the Chapala area?
i bookmarked both since I'm doing research for an eventual move, and Roma hasn't changed the rentals on their website in months; La Mision hasn't responded to an e-mail re: their exact nature. It seems to read as apartments and supportive housing or condos all at the same time. Maybe it is, but it is the lack of a response that concerns me. Any info would be appreciated. Access was the first realtor to respond to me way back when, which I greatly appreciated. It lead me to this site. By the way, how good are they as realtors for long term rentals? Some of their listings look great. Thanks

You will soon discover that getting a return e-mail or phone call from a Mexican is rather rare. Mexican culture is an "in the moment" mindset, and everything else is "mañana". Roma, by the way, is a good choice for property management.
You may search online, but getting anything done will require you to be 'face to face', in person, with a smile and readiness to do business.

Thanks, that's the plan someday, which isn't coming fast enough. Doing as much as I can to start the search remotely. Nowhere near certain it will even be Chapala and environs. Haven't been there yet. But for the discovery trip(s) figured I'd start with a reputable realtor who could perhaps arrange short stays and showings, as well as some logistics like ground transport from Guadalajara. Reputable being the key word. I'll work the rest of it out with them.

I have been in Ajijic for 4 days looking for a 2 bedroom starting Dec. 1. It has been very discouraging. Coming into their high season. I have seen 1 apartment and it was a dump. Heading to San Miguel de Allende on Monday for a week. Don,t know if I will have better luck there. However, this place is great.

In my experience you'll find Mexicans will answer WhatsApp fairly quickly. You may not be able to "settle" a matter but you'll be able to set up an appointment. Google maps is also used to send directions or locations. Download the map of the area to use offline before you come.
Don't expect a reply to an email from many folks unless they specifically declare that they will.

Everyone made very good posts above, especially RV Gringo. Great post.
Roma is a good agency but you just have to persevere and keep phoning until you get someone on the line.
La Mision Apartments, if it is the ones on La Canacinta, (there are more called by the same name) are funky apartments which are older units with interesting floor plans. They are located out in the countryside about 7-8 minutes from Ajijic.
I can help you with finding something remotely. Just PM me.

I know your post is old, but if you are still looking, Roma has a good reputation. LaMision I am not sure about. If that is the guy that has just a few apartment complexes, he is honest. At least I got my deposit back right away. He has one in San Antonio, one in West Ajijic, but way out, and he was building another one up on the hill above San Antonio. If LaMision is one of those big complexes, I know nothing about it. Often they won't answer if they have nothing. Better to go into their office. Roma has an office.
