Hola, My wife and I are relocating to Los Cabos from southern NV. We will be driving and crossing the border at Tijuana or Mexicali. Does anyone have any experience good or bad with either crossing? We will be towing a small cargo trailer with some household goods, clothes and other personal items. Looking forward to hearing about people's experiences. Thank you.

I haven't towed a trailer, but the drive down baja is wonderful! If you have time, stop in Valle de Guadalupe for wine tasting. We usually also stop in San Quintin (Hotel Jardines Baja is restful), Guerrero Negro, and Loreto. There will be several military/police checkpoints but as long as you aren't smuggling anything you'll be fine. They aren't there to hassle tourists. I would advise against driving after nightfall just because the roads are not lit and a black cow at night in the road is hard to see!

I am just across the Sea of Cortez in Sonora. Here it is not advised to drive after dark. Grandma always said nothing good happens after midnight. I have adjusted that to after dark. Poster is correct about animals on the road and the cartels are out too. If you break down that is not a good time to be stranded along the road in Mexico.

ARDMLD, did you make your drive to Los Cabos? How did things go? My beautiful wife and I are planning our June road trip. We're retiring in May and we'll be sampling Baja California from Norte to Sur looking to identify a place to begin our jubilacion (retirement). Mexico is a big country but you have to begin somewhere. Help or suggestions from your drive appreciated.
