Chapala- markets, restaurants, and buses open?

Post New Topic

My husband and I had hoped to drive to Chapala to live for 6 months back in April. But then The Virus! We are now looking at flying down in July and staying downtown Chapala. My questions - is the Mercado Central Chapala open? Is Soriana's open? Is local bus service running? We will be without the bikes or vehicle we had planned on bringing down, so want to know know we can get around and eat! Another part of our retirement plans ( we are 56 & 60) was to travel the world after our Mexico time.

Hi. We live here. YES to all the above. Pretty much everything is open. Some things like gyms and restaurants are limited as to how many people they can have but sit down seating is available. Buses never stopped running but you are not allowed on without a mask. This holds true for most places. In order to enter you must wear a mask. Most businesses also take you temperature at the door and require that you walk on a mat filled with gel. Lots of precautions.
