looking for baking soda in HOlland...sigh

This may sound like a silly request. I'm not sure where I should post this in terms of category since there doesn't appear to be a cooking advice section... so I'll just throw out my question.

I'm from Canada living in the Netherlands... and I want to make cookies. I have searched for baking soda, as you may know is the rising agent in cookie dough, but... I cannot find either baking soda or what the dutch word for baking soda is. I know you can buy self rising flour... but isn't that for bread?

Please help me.

Most Tokos (Asian food stores - the NL is crawling with them) carry Arm and Hammer. I've also had success in German grocery stores. It's a good 2-3 hours to Germany, but baking soda is something that lasts a loooooong time. Getting it at American/British food stores or online is going to be expensive. Good luck!

Hello.

You can buy "baking soda" in the local Albert Heyn of C1000 or whatever supermarket is good for you.
Try looking for Bicarbonate of Soda.
