Moving to Tunisia

My husband and I are thinking of moving to Tunisia as he has been offered a job there. We are both European and appreciate the fact that in Tunis we'd still be close to Europe. I would appreciate any advice I could get on life in Tunis. Specifically I am interested in knowing what the best ways are of finding a house (or apartment, though we prefer a house) for rent in Tunis and what areas are recommended to live in. Also, is there a large expat community in Tunis? What are the best ways of meeting people (both expats and locals)? Is it a safe city? Is it safe to walk around the city center alone as a woman? Again, any advice, tips, comments are welcome!
