Salary Advice for Overseas Job

We've been thinking about moving overseas. I've got 2 companies interested in my resume; one is for a position in Norway the other in Malaysia. Ive been in the southern US all my life. I don't have the first clue in negotiations for an overseas assignment. There are many more considerations than for just staying in the States; taxes, relocation and travel expenses, international schools, adjustments for cost of living, etc. How do most of you handle adjustments to salary based on where you live? Is it adjusted from a baseline, say where you're from to where you're going? My primary concern is the cost of living and foreign tax rates. While $150k / year here may not be bad it may only be barely above poverty in other parts of the world due to the taxes and cost of living. Any advice from those who have already made this change?
