EXPAT'S RIGHTS ABROAD

I want to talk about the rights I have in foreign countries vs what foreigners have in America.

I am sure I don’t have to say that the greatest export America has is American Expats. We spread the American way wherever we go and bring higher wages and living conditions to our new homes.

When a foreigner comes to America they are welcomed with open arms. Once they get a Green Card they have every right that a natural citizen does except vote and work for the US government. Even without that they can buy anything, with few exceptions, that they can afford. They don’t even have to come to America. A good example is real estate. We do not restrict the ownership of real estate in America except in a few rare instances.

In the most countries I can only own property under select circumstances and that comes with a premium payment of some sort. My Filipina wife and I bought some ocean front property near her home town. I could be on the contract but I could not be on the title. I understand that I can inherit but what can that mean if I can’t be on the title.

In Vietnam, I can buy a select, government approved property if I have a high paying job. And if get transferred to another country I have to sell it immediately. What does that do my resale value? Deadline, sell or lose.

Mexico requires me to hold coastal property title to property in a trust and pay an annual fee to an attorney to hold it for me.

And speaking of Green Cards the Philippines doesn’t even offer me this.

I could go on and on about the injustices expats suffer abroad while their counterparts enjoy unlimited access to America and that is why I am here.

I want to connect with other expats that feel the same way. I want to start a grass root effort and expand it to expat Americans everywhere so that we can act as a force at home.

I want our government to restrict foreigner’s rights in America to those that Americans have in their country. I am tired of the lies and misrepresentations that allow this. I want a level playing field wherever I decide to make my home. I don’t want to be treated like a visitor when a foreigner is being treated like a citizen in America.

Who is with me? Let me hear others thoughts on this.
