Permanent Move to East/BCS

I would like to be moved or at least well into the process by April 2023. It is now October 2022. Los Barriles has been attractive to me for a long time. I plan to visit there in January 2023 from 11 - 24. I would like, during that time, to get a feel for a year-round property to rent that would allow my two kitties who will be my only traveling companions.
I will be contacting the local chapter of AA to establish an introduction to sober society in the area. I can certainly be around people who drink but I prefer to abstain.
I'll have plenty of questions and would like to visit the little towns in the area and as far up as La Paz.
A little concern is growing in me that the properties that I am seeing thus far (online only) are m-u-c-h more expensive than what I am hoping for. I won't be needing much.. but security is important (especially because I will be alone).
Perhaps you might have ideas for me.. am I asking too much for an affordable year-round rental? Is it possible to find accommodations allowing two kitties?
