Position Offered - Could I live a good life on the Salary

New Topic Newest First

I have been offered a position in the oil industry in Norway but i am keen to find out if the basic salary I have been offered is sufficient to live a good life over in Norway.

I have been offered a basic salary of 576765 Krone a year with accomodation, pension, health care on top. But the basic salary is this sufficient to live a decent life as I am coming over on my own so providing for myself.

I look forward to hearing some feedback.

Thanks

500,000nkr has bout the same buying power (after tax, adjusted and what not) as 60,000 would in the US. For a single person, yeah, you're going to enjoy that salary.

That is a decent salary, especially if you are not paying for accomodations. As that is probably the steepest expense in Norway.

In my experience and talking with friends, it's common to pay 1/3 to 1/2 your earnings for housing. So, i think you will enjoy yourself very much.

To add: Try to negotiate a mobile phone, laptop, and even a company car. (which you will pay taxes on). Also, it's quite common for larger Norwegian companies to offer a deal on gym memberships. SO, in the end you could save a lot on common expenses :)

Good luck
