Panama Subway Line 2 Expansion Delayed

Unless you are a taxi driver, you have been long awaiting the Panama Subway line to reach Tocumen Airport. Looks like there is another delay. A postponement has been made, to August 30, for the delivery of proposals for design and construction of the branch that will connect the future Higher Technical Institute of the East, with Tocumen international airport. The initial date for the tender was July 25, according to the tender specification documents. La Prensa.com reports that "... The change is due to a series of modifications made to the specifications by the Metro, some requested by the interested companies and others introduced by the contracting entity."
According to the EIA, in the project that will be developed between the towns of Las Mañanitas and Tocumen, in the district and province of Panama, a 2-kilometer elevated line will be built which starts on the side of the Line 2 station under construction in front of the UTP and will move on the south side of Avenida Domingo Díaz, passing over the clover interchange located at the exit of the South Corridor in Tocumen, until it reaches a first station to be built between the INADEH facilities and the future Higher Technical Institute in Tocumen (ITSE). From there the journey continues to its second station, in the new south terminal of the airport.
The type of trains that will be used will be similar to those of Line 1. They are of the conventional type with steel wheels, composed of a maximum of five cars of an approximate length of 86 meters. With the expansion, Line 2 will have an initial passenger transport capacity of 4,000 passengers / hour / direction (AW2 cargo) and 6000 passengers / hour / direction (AW3 cargo), considering a target frequency of 10 minutes.
