Is the COVID situation/narrative turning negative again?

I've been following the news from the outside but it's obviously different from the information available to those in-country.

In making plans to visit Panama for recon purposes, I certainly don't want to find myself caught up in any kind of snapback to lockdown conditions.

News reports are often sensationalized, so just wondering what people who have "boots on the ground" are seeing?

Here is the situation as of Nov 19:
-The economy opened up further on October 12, and as expected, the daily infection rate increased but hasn’t exploded as more people are out and about.
-However, the government has been very transparent about measures they’re taking to keep infections down, such as testing and tracking.
-Moreover, they have stated they’ll put additional restrictions in place if the 4 criteria (such as transmission rate and availability of ICU beds) being monitored go above desired levels. So yes, you might get “stuck” here if the situation deteriorates.
-You can follow all this daily in the media. I suggest Telemetro.com, especially on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when a full epidemiological report is given.

Personally I don’t think travel to Panama right now will give you an idea of what life is like here under normal conditions. For example, many businesses are still closed, including tourist infrastructure, there are measures you have to follow to enter any business, such as walking through a sanitizing bath, taking your temperature, and sanitizing your hands with gel. Masks are obligatory everywhere, outside and inside.

Panama is a wonderful country, but the middle of a world-wide pandemic is not the time to get to know it.

Good luck!

Rana, thanx for the Telemetro tip. I'm praying the virus doesn't escalate before I can get there to check on my mum. Delta has finally reopened their non-stops next month. Desperate to see the airport stay open and safe. Fingers crossed!!
