Cellular Reception

We are working with an electronic access system that depends on Cellular communication for all components to work. We suspect that the location of the system is one where cell reception is weak. Is there such a thing as an external antenna available in Panama that can strengthen the cell signal ?

we live we live on the beach on the East Coastof the Azuero cell reception is very poor. We purchased a repeater, also known as a booster, from Amazon about $60. It works very well..

From my friend Chuck Troe (Coronado) I installed a signal booster on a 30 foot pole and it worked quite well. zBoost is the manufacturer. It was pricy but effective and worked for all signal formats and therefore all service providers. We needed the pole because our house is at the low point of the subdivision and signals were poor for all carriers. Unfortunately, as with all electronics in Panama, the circuit board was fried by a power surge, notwithstanding our “whole house” and circuit specific surge protectors. At least I think that was the problem. It’s possible that the failure was due to a defect in the antenna (unlikely) or the coax (highly unlikely). It was too much work to access the top of the pole and re-wire since we had by that time given up on communications infrastructure and thrown in the towel on doing business from Panama, or at least doing so from the beach area. I did a lot of research on solutions for the cell signal problem and I recommend the product I bought: zBoost Xtreme REACH ZB560SL.
