Dear sir,
Again a chap searching for a country without speaking spanish [altough you are able to speak four four Chinese languages, that will help] and without having a clue what Para is about, you can find all the information on the internet, why don't you visit the country first, better stay in China, that has very cheap parts allso, 75 procent of the immigrants return to their homeland after a year due to the violence in most of the cities, they love to rob Chinese here, most Paraguayans have guns and they use it, succes with you quest, Arnold

Friend,

I've been in Paraguay for about one year, coming here from the US. It is a slower life but well worth the readjustment.

It is untrue that many Chinese are attacked or robbed. Also, most citizens are law abiding citizens and do not carry guns. As in other places, the criminals have guns. Relatively speaking, Paraguay is as safe as other places, USA included.

There are many asians here and they seem to mesh well in Paraguay. You should consider this place. If I am not mistaken there is a Chinese consulate.

Good luck.

Off course I was joking, obvious. What allways sets me off is that just the cost off living is the most important objective and not the beautiful people , the culture, atmosphere, way off living, food, music,
there is a Chinese ambassy in Asuncion, I think the best way for you is to go to Paraguay and look around, feel the atmosphere etc. get some info from other Chinese . The thing is that you have to make arangements in China not here, but atleast you have an idea what this country is about , good luck ! ps; and learn Spanish

"Off course I was joking, obvious."

It is obvious that you are not only a liar but a shameless unrepentant one as well.

for me, only atraction for this destination used to be the citizen program.
You might with some ease, obtain citizenship in order to stay legally in this destination.

Since rules have changed, and country is knowed for its "suspicious" and peculiar culture that reflects in its people, think well in your decision.

Indigeneous culture, a French expat called it the "paraguyan syndrome" , ie, you are a walking dollar bill...
Same happens in Africa or Asia i guess.

yes tahts true...and as for Chinese...well a PEOPLES Republic embassy there is NOT in PY...the only thing there is are an embassy of TAIWAN...and several consulates.
Paraguay is NOT a country were you can find a job easely...and if you find one...get prepared to get paid very lousy!
Good luck with your move to Paraguay...and...LEARN Spanish asap!!! you´ll need it.

OOO and since Paraguay is a VERY corrupt country a PY passport could not be any problem. IF you have the right connections and have $$$$ they can fix you a REAL Paraguay passport, which is valid for 5 years. In paraguay ANYTHING is possible IF you have "amigos" and money. cheers..!

Now I am interested in Paraguay. I am an American living in Thailand. Do I need a visa to initially enter Paraguay or can you just fly in? Thanks call me NewParaguayan or between friends NewPara? Hmm, I like it already.

An American living in Thailand? Well, you will need documents that are not very easy to obtain in THailand. First you will need a document from Interpol about you legal status for the last (I think) three years. That document must be less than 3 months old and certified by the Thailandese government AND the Paraguayan embassy. Your birth certificate must be certified from the country of origin, certified there and re-certified by the Paraguayan Embassy of THAT country (in your case the US- Paraguayan Embassy). There are other documents. You must have at least 5000 USD on a bank account here in Paraguay (if you are not alone, add 5000 per adult). In theory its easy, but there is a lot of paper work. If you have friends here they will help. If not you will need someone to visit the office of immigration. This will costs you about 1000 USD per capita. And, BE CAREFUL ABOUT FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT REAL FRIENDS. They will try to get YOUR money. And there is a large lot of these. They are simply friendly and very soon familiar. Too friendly!! Beware

Lonewolfnl2002

I might add to that, that the 5000 USD will be parked at a PY bank account for 6 MONTHS..! During this time you can NOT touch it; it´s a socalled „plazo fijo“ , or as you could call it a fixed deposito. Needless to say the bank will NOT give you any intrest whatsoever (or only a very small rate), as this is supposed to be an income for the state. After 6 months you can take back your money without problems.

The Interpol document you ONLY can apply IN Paraguay!!!! So an Interpol ducument from Thailand is NOT valid!! Remember that ALL documents NEED to be translated in Spanish...even your passport!!!Sound stupid, but it´s just like that.

Personaly I know several guys that are living in Thailand (Pattaya and Phuket area).....I think after several months in Paraguay you will dearly going to miss Thailand! Remember in PY there is NO beach....no sea...and no night live as you know it from Thailand. Needles to say that in PY there is NO typical Thai food to be found.

OO one more thing...please do try and learn Spanish...you gonna need it. Also there are NO direct flights between Thailand and Paraguay. Your best bet is to fly via Germany or The Netherlands.

Good luck to you sir.
