I want to buy my sister a TV form say Shoemart or some other store and pay with a credit card. Then have my sister drive to the store and buy the item. Is this possible? Shipping takes way to long a costs way to much.

Hi. I am a local in the Philippines. It is possible to buy TV from Shoemart, or any other store selling good appliances because international credit cards (mastercard, Visa) are generally accepted in big stores in Manila.. But of course your sis should have the credit card with her.. Otherwise, check out online stores..

In case, maybe you will just have to expect a little more charge, not to mention delay, in shipping if you would prefer the "ordinary" way of sending. Goods are weighed per kilo, i think. Then there are i think brackets for charging valuable items (i.e. appliances) that are exported or shipped out of the country which your sis might check out with any forwarding company etc.

it will cost you about $100.00 to ship a tv via lbc so there is no significant advantage to buying a tv set in the states. the voltage is 220 volts /60 cycles in pi and an american tv won't work unless you get a transformer.
televisions are availabe in all major cities and towns in the philippines.
