In reading rental ads, I wonder if bathrooms are included as part of the square meters quoted. Usually they are not in the US but I'm not sure about the Phils

I think it is the total floor area.

Tsm- most of the places I ever rented the CR was was very small anyway. It’s a great question- I’m thinking it is included in square measurements/meter would be my guess.
With the CR , make sure it has a Hot shower heater . Many suits don’t when under 10,000-14,000p ... depends where the place is though. A 14k suite is very cheap in Manila, but not so cheap on Bohol.....
Check water heater and how new and effective air-conditioner is . Some old ones can use massive amounts of power- with little output ( I have an old one and new one at my place - using the old one almost “brown outs” my hood! HA ! The new Samsung hardly uses any juice.
Safe journey friend. Surf !

TM I go along with the consensus sure measurement would include rest rooms. Every meter counts to make it sound bigger in the ad.

Many thanks. That's the stuff to know in advance rather learn it the hard way.

Aside from the bathroom being included on the square footage (meters), most also include the balcony or patio as living space (that is if you'll be renting in a condo building).

From observation, I've seen many stated measurements to be a little generous for the actual square Meterage.
I suspect some unscrupulous folks take the boundries of the roof's overhang and make an invisible line down to an imaginary perimeter of the house about 2/3rds of a meter outside the exterior walls.
I'd also say that some include the outdoor porch for good measure... and possibly the surface area of a dirty kitchen set up as a lean-to next to the house.
You definitely want to visit or send someone to take video for you...
