Does anyone on here know my dad James Stryker (Jim). He lives 10 miles from Cebu City and hangs out with expats. He recently had Thanksgiving dinner in Cebu with some expat friends. We are extremely worried and have not heard from him since the storm him. Anyone recognize him and know if he is ok?

There are still pockets where Electricity, Internet, phone, and cell service is still disrupted unless people travel into Cebu City.
If it is out of character for him to be out of contact this long, there is a possibility that he is working through local logistical issues. (IE: Safe, but still disconnected as he focuses on storm recovery activity).
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope someone can help or he contacts you proactively soon.

Many larger PNP jails/ offices have access to sat- phones…. Just for expats knowledge. A quick call home or to a Buddy in North Luzon is all it takes .

Mactan has some good areas . Mostly at sea level. Some big PNP stations there . Keep us in the loop….

Put it down to no signal or ;power on his phone. Some areas in Cebu may be without power for over one month and cell towers gone. Western deaths would make the media so don't worry.

Cowgirl, I know this doesn't help at the moment but in the future you and anyone else should know or leave contact information with family members who your friends are, their address and contact numbers including your address and ways to contact you.

I've been seeing more and more videos and information about the various islands and area on Youtube as relief efforts continue. (Example: FinnSnow's Odette Relief videos)
Even if you still haven't heard from your father, I still would not yet loose hope.
There are complicated situations and areas where relief is only coming from neighbors (not the government or organized efforts). Power may be out for as long as a month.
Word may still come or be on the way. It's not intuitive or easy to appreciate, but I think it's very possible.
Hang in there, -Asawa

I will second that ! Don't loose hope , there will be someone who will recognize him . Send out his picture again and the one with his buddies .... and every few weeks or so send it out again to this blog post . Did he have any friends outside of Cebu City/Mactan area ? Any other island he ever went to ? What has the police or consulate said so far ? Any fights or disagreements with any Pinoy or expat mentioned to you or through his buddies ? ... the more we know the better . SO Far Zero from North Luzon and Tarlac , Pampanga university area ,Conception, Capas, Vigan, Dagupan , San Fernando, Also guys are scouting him down in South Negro San Carlos all the way down to Bais, Tanjay, Dumaguete , all the way down to Saiton area . I have contacts in these areas - no firm sitting yet . Picture help Pinoy seem to think we all look alike !
