hello all….. I am getting ready to purchase a new Apple IPad Air 4th generation for a upcoming long term trip to the PL. Is there a preference to GSM, CDMA, UNLOCKED or other. My understanding is Apple products will connect globally without any headaches …. Understanding there are spotty connections in many areas…….and better in others. It seems from my research that some “model #’s are made for different markets. Options / opinions looking for insights on connecting wifi while on the road in the Pl. with Apple products…..

Honestly, I brought an iPad Mini 5 just before the Pandemic, and I ended up just buying a GSM Mobile Hotspot that is about the side of a pack of cards.

Take a look at the MyFi LTE:

You can grab those anywhere. about 20mbps to 25mbps download, and about 15mbps to 20mbps upload. It's good for about 2-4 days (and you can use while charging).

In the end, it was just easier to setup, load, and use. I could power it off of my devices USB (in a pinch), plus use it across my Phone, iPad mini and Microsoft Surface Laptop.

It's not quite the answer you were looking for, but I could share it on multiple devices (and family near me) in a pinch.

I did also (later) also hook up my iPad 5 mini directly. It was a little more solid. If you go to any Globe or Smart store in an upscale mall (Physical stores, not no-name 3rd party counters) they can get you hooked up with either solution within about 20 min. I don't recall if I used a physical sim card. they took care of it at the store, and I can't remember which devices have a MicroSIMM slot and which don't. I have too many devices!

303- Apple work fine in the RP . The guys with Windows seem t get way more bugs and stuff . Apple is free of that stuff - no scrubbers needed . I would get a quality VPN though . I just a MacBook Pro . Works great . I use smart and use my data as a hot spot when I need it while mobile . I think that was your question.
