Hello again guys… I’m wondering if anyone knows the hideouts on FB for groups in Iloilo City…?? It seems very limited ( which could be a good thing too…. ) Or if any one knows where expats might hang out in Iloilo City..?? Coffee shops, popular spots or…??? I’m looking to get a quick lay of the land upon arrival so I can figure better neighbors to look for longer term stays past the 1st few days……. Grateful for insights…

Not many expats that actually live there and hang out as a group. Iloilo is small in comparisons to other cities and expats and hit or miss. I fly in for three months at a time and if I do hang it’s rare to connect with other expats.

Thanks Lawdog, That has it’s upsides and it’s downside. I guess I’ll figure it out upon arrival. Just looking to network to see which neighborhoods would give me access to different activities and transportation…. so I can get a better feel for the Philippine culture
thanks again…

Are you trying to stay in the city center and browse from there? The closest nicest subdivision possibly for renting a home would be Westwood. For smack dab in a great location would be megaworld all condos and many are on Airbnb or the Facebook pages which usually is cheaper and negotiable. Outside of that you start venturing out to the outskirts such as Savannah, Sta Barbara to name a few housing subdivisions that will accommodate.

303,

I will be moving to Iloilo province, about 45 minutes outside Iloilo City by car.

I should be arriving just before Christmas and be there 10 or 11 months a year.

I sent you a PM with contact info.

Thanx again Lawdog..!!! Most likely in the city proper till I get the lay of the land. Will start examining maps of the area. Will need wi-fi / internet access and have heard many areas outside of city spotty access. Will be looking to rent a scooter to explore.
