Hi everyone,
I wanted to share that today I got my Visa D (retirement) from the San Francisco Portuguese Consulate.
It took only 26 days. I hired an amazing team in Lisbon and they help me with everything. I highly recommend them.

Gilda Pereira is one of the owners and she is very professional and very nice to deal with.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

@Tadeo50, I am jealous. I am also compiling all the required documents required for the visa but I am stuck at the "Document for accommodation" section. My intention is to be self-employed in Portugal.
Can you please tell me how did you secure a document for accommodation?

YEEEHAW! Got the word from the DC embassy to send them my passport for the visa attachment ceremony. I've been working on the actual process for nearly a year. The biggest source of help was this Form and the many "unmet friends" that have guided my path. I thank you all for your wisdom and assistance. GROUP HUG!!!!!!

That is the company I am using. My visa approval was about 3 1/2 weeks. I recommend them as well. Better to get it submitted correctly than mess around. I have now sent my passport for the visa to be affixed. Cristina Amarel at Eimigrante is who has helped me.

We didn't pay anything. It's actually quite straightforward and not worth spending money to get your visa. There is plenty of information online and the consulates will generally confirm that information.
Our meeting at the Consulate lasted ten minutes and we were asked just one question. I believe it went smoothly because we had all the documents in the order in the consulate-referred site. No extra documents (although we had them with us) for them to take out. This information is readily available and the Consulate personnel spoke English.
The residency card meeting with SEF is different. If you aren't fluent in Portuguese, you can end up in a difficult situation with an agent who doesn't speak English. We did have to respond on one issue and the person we hired for that (€100 for the two of us) resolved it quickly.
