Solution for porting cell number

I have been back and forth with numberbarn.com and have confirmed it is now possible to port your number to Portugal. I think my response got lost in another thread so am reposting it here. This is what I was told.

One thing I want to point out is that with SMS, we don't actually "forward" them to your existing cell phone. What we do is, once the number transfers to NumberBarn, have the SMS within your NumberBarn account. You can then send/receive via your account (mobile app or on a computer). You'll also get email notifications for messages.

Once a number is ported to NumberBarn, it is converted to a wireline/landline number. Some companies can only send their notifications to wireless numbers.

I can't stress this enough - check with the company first to make sure they can text to a wireline/landline number. I'd rather you know before you transfer than find out after and run into a stressful situation.

When you verify that the company can support texting to your landline/wireline number, you can port the number to NumberBarn.
