Temp Residence Permit Renewal: Success

Hi all. Wanted to share our experience with our first Temporary Residence Permit Renewal. TLDR: success!!

Our morning appointments were at the Av. António Augusto de Aguiar location in Lisboa.

We arrived 15 minutes before our appointment time, took a number, and waited a little over an hour to be seen. When we were called, it was a pleasant, professional, painless process. The agent that helped us was a delight.

We created packets with the required paperwork noted on the application but that was not necessary. She scanned everything, including our passports, and returned our copies. The only piece of paperwork she kept was the original application. She took our photo and fingerprints (even though we brought two headshots each). We each reviewed our personal information on the permit receipt and signed it. She punched a hole in our old cards and returned them to us.

Next we waited just a few minutes before being called to the payment desk. Total cost: €163.70 each. As best as I can tell, it was €72 for the residency renewal, €83.10 for administrative costs, and €8.60 for mailing (well worth it!). We paid cash but saw a card machine. It’s possible it only accepted Portuguese cards, we didn’t ask. We left with the signed and stamped permit receipts (that had our pictures) and payment receipts.

Our Temporary Residence cards, valid for two years (yay!!), will be mailed to our home, expected in two to three weeks.

Hope this info helps others. (And I hope this missive retains my paragraph breaks :} )
