Visa Applications thru VFS Global

VFS Global is handling the visa application process for the DC, NYC and SF consulates (since about 1 April) with others likely to follow. You'll be directed to the VFS site and online application form. VFS is not changing the application requirements from whatever the respective consulate uses, I think the most succinct explanation of all the consulates' requirements is still the article on this site titled "US Citizens Moving to Portugal". People who've applied via VFS in the last two weeks have confirmed this info.

Thank you for the information, craigandmicki. I'm in PT! Rushed to the Embassy to get the visa before they mailed it and caught my flight. Person at Embassy says "by law" they have to have the national visa by 60 days....but 60 days from WHEN! For people who have to book the flight and hotel, I would say to make the reservations 90 days from the time you can take your documents to the Embassy. I don't know how VFS Global will affect the timing.
