I am thinking of retiring to Tavira or Carvoeira. Which do you recommend?
What can I expect to pay per month to rent a two bedroom apartment in Tavira?

Hey Cbyoga you are doing a mighty fine job of showing us yanks up. Neither of these places are mainstream, both are about the same price for the same square feet and level of services, you just have to choose the one you like to live in best ! How can ya expect anyone else to do that for ya?

I was on both a short while back - both are just fine and dandy.

We are in Taviara/Santa Luzia and have several estate agents and an owner of multiple rental properties we could refer to you. We have very limited knowledge of Carvoeiro. There are websites you can review at idealista.pt and casa.sapo.pt. My initial reaction would be that Tavira is the less expensive of the two. But sometimes, you get what you pay for.

Hello. Go to numbeo.com to check prices for each city.. Carvoeiro is a city of around 3500 people while Tavira has around 30,000 people. There are more things to do in Tavira year round than in Carvoeiro. I would characterize Carvoeiro as a more seasonal town than Tavira. I would also question the public transportation availability in Carvoeiro.
Nearby towns such as Lagoa or Ferragudo are both about 6 kms away from Carvoeiro. In Tavira there are several train stations & a bus station where one can catch an express to Lisboa, for example. I would suspect that it will be difficult to find a long term rental in both cities but since Tavira is larger you might have more options.
Hope those thoughts help & I have been in both cities & currently live in Tavira.
