Hi

I'm planning a trip to Portugal this summer for the purpose of finding a place to retire in a couple of years. My plan is to stay somewhere around Lagos and scout the area. Any tips?

Nick

Hi Nick,
I would suggest going on “Americans in the Algarve” Facebook site. You can ask questions and read posts that will give you tons of information about moving to portugal. It’s a good choice, btw.
We’re in Tavira, which is a laid back town, but a great place if you like that. If not Lagos is better, bigger, more going on and great hiking around there! We’re around if you want to meet for coffee until June 20th. Best wishes, Julie

Thanks Julie! Travira is beautiful! That’s just the kind of town I was looking for. I’m coming mid July. I’d love to meet.m if you’re available. I have a million questions.

Tavira is a wonderful town. We fell in love with it as well. Spend your time in the Algarve exploring and getting a feel for the people.
Their sweet and kind natures coupled with genuine friendliness is the true beauty of Portugal.
I wish you many more days of enjoyment and ultimately a happy relocation to Portugal if that is your decision.
Our choice is made - the house goes on the market next week. If all goes well we will be in the Algarve for the New Year. Things in the USA continue to deteriorate, we can’t free ourselves quickly enough from the daily onslaught of angry rhetoric and an ugly divisive election.
