Hey guys! My name is Irina. I am a Romanian citizen and my boyfriend is American. We would like to move to Bucharest together but he only speaks English. We don't even know what he could do (other than IT) if he does not speak Romanian. Do you have any suggestions? Is anyone in the same situation like us? If so, please give me examples of jobs he could do. Thanks!

Hello Jacuro,

I am in a similar situation.. and am looking for an IT job in Bucharest.

I have two degrees that will be accepted internationally. A BS in Marketing and a MS in Data Analysis.

If you have any tips or connections that you'd like to share, I would be really interested in hearing them!

Thanks in advance!
K

Hi there.
Sorry for the late reply,

I live and work in Bucharest, and i only speak English at work.
Still i work for a Romanian company which normally only speaks Romanian.

There are A LOT of jobs for English speakers and specially in the IT world.

You do need to make sure that some things are sorted.

1. Residence, he needs to apply for a Romanian CNP (which is possible)

2. Certification, diplomas.
Make sure that the certification is verified and translated into Romanian.
The translation itself isn't a big issue, but the certification / Diploma needs to internationally accepted as well.
For example CCNA certification is world wide standard, Microsoft certificates are as well BUT they need to be in the Romanian language.

The simple rule for applying for jobs is having international accepted certifications and or translations by a notary office.

If i can support him with anything please send me a message i might even have some places he can apply for jobs :)

Regards J

First he has to get his papers that allow him to work. I'd recommend you go there for a couple weeks and get the lay of the land.
