Can I afford to Live in Scotland???

I am a retired/disabled US Army Veteran and I am 52 years old, right now I receive a guaranteed minimum permanent income of $32,000.00 pounds sterling but it could be as much as $42,000.00 pounds sterling if I can still receive my social security outside the US? But my veterans benefits are a little over $32,000.00 sterling yearly and I can receive them anywhere in the world so I know I’ll have a minimum of that much to live on, and that’s converted from US dollars to Scottish pounds, so anyway we will have between $32,000.00 and $42,000.00 income and I want to know if my family and I can afford to live a decent life in Scotland on that amount of income? We want to move there permanently or at least we think we want to stay there the rest of our lives but life throws some curve balls at you so that could change in the future and I have no control of this type things,

We also don’t know exactly where we will want to live but I guess that depends on the local economy and if we can live better in one area compared to another? We just want to have a small home in Scotland and have a good life, we will also probably sell our home here in the US which will give us an additional $50,000.00 pounds sterling or more in cash depending on how much our house sells for at the time but now property values are going up so it could be a lot more, so anyway can anyone give me some ideas on places to live and how well we can or can’t get by on my income there in Scotland? I might like the coast too so I can fish and have fresh seafood on a regular basis, any help is appreciated greatly
