Considering retirement in SA/Botswana

Greetings all,

I was tossing the idea of moving out of the USA to SA or Botswana with my wife over the weekend.

She is from Botswana and has her mother, brother and sister still living in Mochudi.

I was born and raised here in the US. Quite frankly I'm tired of life here in the US, and want a change.

I'm 55 and I can retire if I want to with about $2500.00 US montly.

I am an IT Manager for many years and currently earning $110,000.00 annually in USA dollars.

I hate to think that people would resent me for taking an IT job, but I understand with the global recession jobs are difficult for locals and this resentment can become an issue.

I am white, my wife is black. We are Christians. I see us working with disadvantaged youth, and just helping people get on with life and making something out of themselves.

I would like to make contact with American citizens living in SA or Botwana as a start to explore this possibility.

We are tired of all the moral decay in this country, and the liberal shift that is destroying the American family life.

It would be nice to live the last quarter of my life in a new culture and blend in.

My parents are from Malta so I am partial to people of other countries, and resent Americans who look down on foreigners.

My relatives are in Britain, Malta, and Australia. They have much more class than relatives who came to the USA. The USA is country devouring itself and it cannot stand much longer as it is morally and financially bankrupt. It's just a matter of time before a great collapse. The common citizen has no say from elected officials, and it's big money that captures the minds and hearts of the decision makers here.

I could go on and on, but at this stage I am simply exploring the idea and would appreciate honest, blunt comments from others.

Thank you.
