Advice on Areas to Visit?

Hello. I want to relocate to SA, and am researching Uruguay. Are there places east of Punta del Este that have reliable high speed internet, security, and maybe organic food? Are there any places like that out near, say, Paloma, or Aguas Dulces? And is there anything I need to know about living a little farther out? My Spanish is basic, but I am sure it will get better with time. Thanks.

It is pretty dead along the coast during about half of the year with many businesses and restaurants closed up. Many of the homes are only used as summer vacation homes - some spots will have a lot of tourists over the summer with all night parties, music and lots of young folk hanging about.

This also caused water shortages and power outages.

You will find less English the further you go from the major centres.

... if you consider the MINAS, Lavalleja area, then I might have some solutions for you regarding the Organic Food, the 'Oil' and low cost but excellent living ...

Take a look at this map from the Antel website and it will tell you where the high-speed fiber is installed. There is also cable internet and satellite internet available but you would have to call Antel to find out the speed and areas served.

The further out from Punta you go North East the fewer and fewer people, stores, hospitals, and general amenities there will be. If you are going up the East cost your "big city" will be Rocha. For example, I was looking at a house in Agua Dulce 5 days ago and I saw 12 people in the little town and 2 places to get basic necessities (it is a beach town people really dont live there year around). As for La Paloma, there are more peole there. It is still a very small town and it gets very busy in the Summer and then it is dead for the rest of the 9 months of the year :). I would not want to live that far North if I was you. The farthest I would go is Jose Ignacio or Manantiales I think. Wait to see what others say. These are just my opinions.
