My wife and I are coming in mid March '20 for 3 weeks and want to shop properties in Punta and La Barra areas. I got a couple of names from a cursory google search, but would rather get some recommendations from folks in the know. Thanks for your time.

Dear kirkaj11: Check and contact Martina Van Bevern at van-bevern.com These is a German couple and they have great home listings at very reasonable prices. They won't try to take advantage of you at all is it would commonly happen in most of Latin America.
