Hello,

I have Cedula (legal permission) from Uruguay and visit the country every some years.
Now I have to renew the cedula in November 2022 - unfortunately I live not in the country and my spanish language is very poor. to renew it, somene have to make the datas in the migration office direct in Montevideo, before it is possible to renew it

Before I have done this last in 2019 with Manfred Burger, a german who live over 20 years in Uruguay - unfortunately it is impossible to contact him.

Is there someone in Uruguay, who can help me to renew my cedula in November 2022?

Regards

My understanding is you must go in person so they can take your photo. But a lot of this has moved online. https://www.gub.uy/tramites/cedula-identidad

You can use your browser to translate.

Also I have been told if you don’t spend a certain amount of time in the country they may not renew it…. Good luck.

You will need to set a date for your trip to Uruguay and ask for an appointment in advance for renewal of your cedula. I use the service of Hector Azeves, for more than 15 years in this business, lots of referrals in the expats site in facebook.

Laws and rules have changed as of the last revision, you have to live in Uruguay at least more than half of the year which would be 6 onths and a day or you will have problems. Best is if you contact an immigration lawyer, they are most likely to speak german, english.... Punta or Colonia lawyer might be the best option for you. Alternatively, if you have had your CI for more than 3 years citizenship and a passport might be a better option for you. Uruguay recognizes double citizenship. Ask in the uruguayan embassy of your country of current stay if you can extend/change your immigration status.

Good luck.

You can recover your password or create a new one on the website. Try using your cedula number as your user name.

Good luck

hello,

as i understand, for the renewal first I need a migration authorization to obtain the Migratory Certificate, This I have to do online.

On which website I can do this?

How to make the payment in Abitab, when I am in Europe?

Just ask Héctor about your situation, he advice to fill the form of contact and explain the situation. If that fails you will need somebody that can talk with "Agesic" (the Agency in charge of tramites gub.uy). You can write to him at [email protected] and here is the form https://www.gub.uy/contacto
