Where in dominica would be good places to be for someone who loves warm, calm waters, local tropical fruits, nature, peace and pleasant company...have been in Dominican republic, but not dominica yet, still living in working in a rural area in the u.s., but when the nights start getting colder, I begin thinking of someplace warmer...any suggestions for a first visit?

Having been there before the big storm, I found almost any town on the Caribbean coast to be fine, esp. Glanville, Canefield, Mahaut and Soufrire/Scotts Head. The north s a bit more pricey. I am currently on Grenada, thinking of going back to Dominica permanently.

Yes, go to Calibishie on the North East coast. It is a quaint village and people are nice. We lived there for several years.

A word of advice though: be careful as several tourists have been brutally attacked during the last few years. If you go hiking, it is better to do so with a guide. Be also careful where you decide to stay.

Have fun!
