Hi, I have a trip booked to visit CR at the end of the month and yesterday I booked a rental car from Priceless Car Rental, it's a Kia Serrento with unlimited miles for $3 a day.
Is this common in CR? Am I going to get what I pay for? Any insights on car rentals in CR would be appreciated.

As others have warned, Be prepared for the mandatory Insurance. Even if you are covered another way they will force you to buy it. With this daily insurance your rental car will now cost what it does in other countries. ($30-$40) not $3. We enjoyed our stay and having the car is very worth it. Just budget this insurance into your funds for travel. Relax and Enjoy your time.

We are here now. My husband researched a lot if companies. $3 a day sounds like some kind of scam. Renting a car was a surprisingly big expense with the mandatory insurance but it is well worth it. You never know when you may find yourself on an adventure with washed out roads, torrential rain, fog, 45+ degree angle hills, etc. The insurance is absolutely necessary. We chose Adobe and they have been great. They picked us up at the airport and offered a local SlM card and WIFI in the car. Highly recommended!

That rate is not even close to reality. I'm not familiar with Priceless in CR but I can vouch for the other recommendations from the previous posters. Apparently Priceless has rental agencies all over the world and their reviews are terrible for the most part. Go with a trusted agency in CR!

My husband used Adobe several times. He had same positive experience. Also some visitors used them in Grecia and were great. Could delay the dates and no problem.

Hi Eric,
$3 per day seems extraordinarily low and unfortunately I suspect it does not include some of the fees for example CR's mandatory liability insurance. My husband and I have rented cars many, many times and use Adobe Car Rental exclusively for several reasons including they are a Costa Rican company, their service is super (they picked up a car from me in a little town that they did not have an office in for no charge) and their pricing is up front. If you have Amex you can obtain documentation from Amex that you have liability insurance and you will not need to pay this. Also, some of the expat blogs give discounts for Adobe if you book thru them eg My Tan Feet and Two weeks in costa rica. We use my tab feet. Never heard of Princess. This price is FAR BELOW the average cost of a typical rental car in CR.
Maybe it is a special promotion, or just a mistake. You wil be required to have insurance.
Definitely not the norm, is it a very long term rental?
