We're a family of conservative Christians. We believe in the right to bear arms. We're fed up with the globalist takeover of the USA and the insane COIVD scam lockdown. Is there any refuge in Ecuador or is it the same globalist crap there? My husband insists that when there's a worldwide economic collapse that Ecuador will be a 3rd world hell hole and the gringos with a target on their backs. I want the opinions of expats who live there. I speak little Spanish -- don't know how difficult that will be.

Been hearing about the dollar collapsing for 20 years. Well if it makes you feel good dream on. I'm sure you also think covid is a hoax and all jet streams are chemtrails. Keep posting, you folks are a great laugh

Well DrRed. Under most circumstances, when someone tells me they are a Christian I am openly welcoming; as, from my experience, are most people in Ecuador. But with the attitude you express and that is expressed by so many of your Political persuasion in the US, I think we in Ecuador are better off if you just stay where you are.

DrRed, in the current geopolitical situation I wouldn't be moving to any country that is on a US currency. US dollar is on a brink of collapse and when it does then all hell will break loose in USA and those countries.

I'm not sure why you need to be hostile and demeaning. Why didn't you just ignore my post? I'm seeking genuine advice not nasty smack talk.

It's not just a matter of what does Ecuador have to offer an expat, it's what does an expat have to offer the country and culture they move to.
Please stay in the USA that you helped create and leave South America alone. Ecuador will thank you. Good luck.

In spite of the fact that Ecuador has just elected a center-right President for the first time in 15 years, don't hold your breath if you think things are going to take a dramatic swing away from "moderate" socialism. It won't since the left, center-left and indigenous parties control a very majority of votes in the National Assembly. One of the joys of having a multi-party system of government - concession and consensus become the only way forward. In reading between the lines of your inquiry, while I firmly believe in everyone's right to think and believe as they please, I also, as a longtime resident of Ecuador don't think you would be happy here. Oh, I'm sure you could find "kindred spirits" here in some places and you'd be able to sit and commiserate with one another about how the world's gone to hell in a hand bucket, you won't find the escape you're seeking here. Even your religious beliefs will take a left turn, here. My wife, an Ecuadoran, is a devout Evangelist Christian. Her pastor and his wife are ex-pat missionaries from Penn. who've been here for over 20 years. I know you would be shocked at how "liberal" the Christian churches are here compared to the States. The "last guy" has even been castigated by ministers here for his behavior while U.S. President. If you move here, you'll have to leave your preconceptions, prejudices, and guns back in the States. Sorry, I don't think Ecuador is for you. Maybe Brazil?

Ecuador is a Socialist country, and is currently under restrictions for COVID. The hospitals are overloaded, and the numbers are spiking again. Little here is normal, and likely won't be for many many months if not more like years. Also, by the way, citizens aren't allowed to own guns in general. The people are largely Catholic, and in order to live here with any "ease" one needs to know at least basic Spanish, be willing to adapt to the local culture and way of doing things (like Tons of 'red tape' and also tendencies to not show up for appointments on time, etc) If one cannot handle that sort of thing, forget Ecuador Have lived here 8 years....and have adapted well. I don't think you'd be happy here at all...or at least your husband wouldn't be
