Shipping from USA to Italy - Sicily, Palermo

Ciao! Im looking for anyone who has used a shipping company in USA, either by plane or barge that was successful, where you actually received everything you shipped to your destination in Europe. I have been looking locally, but all the bad reviews are making me not want to chance shipping anything - and its stuff I would not be able to buy again, otherwise, I would not mind. Grazie!

Send My Bag: response. Here is my experience for the last 3 years with SendMyBag. My daughter lives in London (I'm in U.s.) and I have used them several times with out a hitch- However- that was until I sent a box! Box was not a good experience. It was lost for more than 2 months, finally after much go-around with the management, who were responsive, it was returned to us. I had to request a refund, which they have given as a credit. Box is quite damaged, but items inside appear to be there. I will repack articles in suitcase and resend. Bottom line; IMHO they are great for LUGGAGE- not good for boxes. By the way, every time before we had DHL pick up the luggage- this time it was FEDEX- not sure if that was the issue or the fact that it was a box. I plan on using them (and buying several pieces of luggage) for my upcoming move. Wrap well and follow directions exactly. Their prices keep going up, but so does everything. I am also looking into "MyBaggage" . Hope this helps!

We used send my bag and our boxes arrived before we did and they were supposed to arrived after. Luckily we had a friend in the town we were moving to that could handle the early arrival for us. We had 17 larger sized boxes sent. DHL worldwide came with a big truck one day before we flew out. Just make sure you have all our labels attached correctly. 14 of those boxes arrived early and the rest arrived a couple of days later. Not sure how they got split up but the customer service and tracking made it easy to follow up. We have zero complaints and would definitely use them again. We moved from the US (midwest) to Liguria Italy. Also, nothing was broken although one box was falling apart and customs re taped it. Make sure your sides and corners are taped very well.

Thank you! I will look into it. Even tho, after reading all their nightmare reviews of theft and damage, I think Im just going to have friends fly with me with everything on the plane, cheaper and safer. It seems at that all these moving companies, unless you are in the military, are undercover scam artists.

Hello. I had my belongings shipped from California to Italy with Gosselin Moving. They were great and went above expectations. Everything arrived in good condition.

I would contact Barbara Savelli via email and she'll get you started.

If you do contact her, please let her know I referred Gosselin, (I don't get anything but I want her to know I'm telling people.)
Best of luck.

But yes! haha, I do take all my fav kitchen stuff too, like from TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls. When I leave that country, it sells fast too, since it cant be found locally, so it always pays for itself. I once took my sewing machine in my carry on luggage to India, but then realized their Amazon is AMAZING...but Amazon Italy is on the high end...

Oh I completely agree! And thank you for the confirmation, not to go with the cheapest... I'm not taking any house stuff, important will go on the plane, to be honest, I think the plane is the cheapest route since its 2 free and the rest are $75, $100 each...I put things in those rubbermaid totes. Ive lived abroad so many times. I think people forget that it is actually cheaper to buy things oversees. Im just needing to ship heavy arts n crafts stuff that is not sold over there. Not taking any household and def NOT a car lol. Not about to try to find parking for a full sized vehicle on cobble stone roads. Thank you so much for all the responses, its really helping me think out the best option :)

When my brother moved from
NJ to Tuscany about 8 years ago, he used Michael Siracusano from Aetna Worldwide Relocation Services:

(516) 825-5885,ext 101

Everything arrived, as planned. They literally moved their entire home. And car!

All I can offer is DON'T go cheap. Get prices and read reviews but we picked the slightly less pricey method of not inventorying every item and lots were lost. Take your treasures, take your most important, take furniture (good quality is very expensive and unless in Rome not easily replaced), yes you can take lamps but very little else electric (check voltages) even my electric clock blew out. Take your good kitchen equipment and utensils (All Clad and good quality is $$$ and not easy to find)
As far a shipping your car: again I should have shipped our young Rav 4 in a container for more $$. After 6 wks aboard ship it arrived with 4 flat tires ... easy fix and a severly damaged engine from either sabotage or salt air???...It would have cost at least $6000+ to repair so we sold it for a pittance and bought a Fiat. Cars in Italy are expensive.
