Looking for information about relocating to North Los Vegas

My wife and I are thinking about buying a second home in the USA so we can travel back and forth from our home in Panama and generally think that we will try to divide up our time between the two locations. We are thinking of NLV because we don’t want anything to do with cold weather and having visited Vegas many times we believe the desert like climate is what we are looking for. We would also like to be near Nellis AFB so we can indulge in our military retirement benefits. My wife and I have lives in Europe, the USA and currently in Panama and are planning the next phase of our lives and would like to have the comfort of first world amenities and services once now and then so spending a little more time in the USA would fill that desire.

Does anyone have any firsthand experience with living in the greater Los Vegas area or have any recommendations and advice to offer?

We are looking forward to getting back to the states albeit part time and will probably have to do some adjusting to the way of life in the USA after having lived offshore for decades and have become largely outdated & disconnected with what it’s like to live in America.

Vegas is a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. I thought I would like it as well and rented for a year. In the summer it is beyond hot 103 several days in a row followed by 100 at night it cooled to 80-85.
Currently it is a sellers market with the exodus leaving California. They are taking over everything to and including Texas. Unfortunately they are taking the mentality that turn California into what it's become with them. The joke in Texas is they need a wall to the west. I would personally look at New Mexico or Arizona if you want desert. You will find the market does not have the swings Vegas does. Right now you would be catching Vegas on the upside but wait a day it will fall flat.
Spend 6 weeks each in the 3 states I suggest then pick. The other Vegas issue to look at is crime and the homeless. Even if your living in a gated community you have to go outside the gate.

It sounds like it would be a good fit for you based on what you're looking for (mainly no cold weather). North las Vegas is close to the main part of Vegas for fun, but far enough away to avoid a lot of the tourist bustle. Plus, Las Vegas is an easy place to travel to and from if you want to visit or vacation in other parts of the U.S. I believe it's also somewhat affordable compared to other parts of the west coast.

Hello there, I am a real estate agent in Las Vegas and would be happy to help! I have lived in the Las Vegas valley for about 16 years.

I am signed up on this site because my husband and I are researching retiring abroad, and Europe & Panama have been our top considerations! Perhaps we can pick each other's brains. :)
