Hello I have 4 passport countries: Canada, the US, Great Britain and Ireland. I lived in Alaska for 15 years from 1994-2009. I lived and worked as a mountain athlete and pilot. However primarily I connected deeply with the wilderness there. I spent many winters in South America and the desert southwest. I'm currently a film student in the UK. I'm now earning a master's in cinematography. As an older woman, I feel the big city life is not for me and I need to be closer to the mountains however most of all I need to find work. I am not a rich woman except in life experience. I am hopeful I can find PhD related work or research in Norway that is related to filmmaking. I have just enquired in Tromso. Maybe this is not possible. Who knows. I would love to at least learn if any opportunities that fit could come to fruition.

Hi all -
I am of retirement age, currently enjoy working part time as a clinical Pilates instructor, starting the process for a Family visa to be closer and more supporting to my son, daughter-in-law and grandson.
I hold UK/USA passports.
It would be great to hear experiences from other members - I am sure questions will come fast and furious as my family and I progress on this journey!

My family of 5 adults is looking to relocate to Norway in 2H2024.
We want to be in the suburbs of Stavanger, Bergen, or Oslo, ideally, no more than 60 minutes outside these locations as we need decent access to airports. We are open to other locations as well.
We need a decent size garden as we have 3 dogs. 2000 square meters or more.
A house with 4+ bedrooms and a two-car or larger garage is ideal.
If there are small farm properties not too far outside of these locations they would also work.
I run a software company start-up (Catalyze. one) currently based in the US but we are looking to relocate our company to Geneva. Most of my company staff is based in Europe so it makes sense for us.
Since we deal with blockchain technology Switzerland is the primary company location focus but we are open to Norway if the regulatory environment is supportive of blockchain application companies.

I am born & raised Californian who moved her family to Maine 23 years ago. No regrets. Kids all grown & on their own. My husband & I are looking at retiring in 3-4 years. Seriously considering permanent relocation to Norway. Everything about it appeals to us. This is how I started researching moving to Maine, I joined a forum & talked to people since I didn’t know anyone in Maine.

Driving habits are mostly very good, decent, and considerable However roads are terrible, this is mostly due to the geography and nature. so watch out, and always be careful about speed. www.førerkort.no is a Norwegian website that compares all driving schools in Norway - They also offer a massive library for everybody to learn about all driving classes you can apply for.

I am an American citizen who is married to a Turkish citizen. We have twin baby girls and one older son who lives with us. We are in Turkey currently but want to live in Norway due to the safe family environment, excellent education, and health care it provides. We hope to make our dream come true.

Being of Norwegian descent, I am fascinated with all aspects of Nordic life. We hosted an exchange student from Norway for a school year. I found my values were nearly perfectly in sync with their culture. I plan to visit in the coming year, and would like to assess the potential for a Norwegian life someday.

I am definitely considering becoming an expat with my wife within the next five years. But most probably not in Norway. The reason I am coming here is that I'm needing advice and guidance from some expats in Norway. My 26-year-old daughter had a terrible accident in Norway two weeks ago. On a tour with SJOA, she jumped off a ledge in a canyon into the water and hit a rock under the water! Her L3 verterbra was fractured. Thank God, thank God, thank God she wasn't paralyzed. She was taken to Lillehammer Hospital, then Oslo University Hospital-Ulleval. The surgery seems to be successful. She was released this past Saturday. She and her partner have gone to Kristensand where they are staying with a friend of her partner's faculty advisor, I think. (Her partner is a Ph.D. student at Brown University.) The U.S. Embassy has been useless. You can't even reach a human being. She needs to have more medical attention. How does she access medical attention in Kristiansand? How does the system work? Her mother and I are sick with worry. She and her partner are mature and independent, but they are in over their heads trying to deal with this situation alone. That's my immediate question. Thank you.

I was born in Sweden, I went to school in California until I was about 18, then I moved to Norway where I have lived ever since. Most of my friends are still American, and online.
