Hello, I'm a Canadian who is currently living in South Africa. You've made a great choice to retire in Cape Town.

In order to decide how much money is required to live you would really need to break down how you will like to spend your days. Do you enjoy resturants, activites? As a real estate agent I'm quite aware of the costs, you can e-mail me at [email protected] with details on how you plan to spend your reitrement days and I can give you some advice on how much money will be required.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, depends on how comfortable you would like to retire. A decent and comfortable home to purchase could set you back from $100k t0 $200k, a standard 1.6 litre motor vehicle from $150 to $250k( a decent 4X4 SUV around $400), and comfortable monthly living expenses for a couple, about $2-4K a month, with k=1000. ( NB: Had to add extra zeros you will notice)

Hi,
I retired in Cape Town with my wife almost 9 years ago, moving from USA. It has fantastic. I would suggest contacting an immigration consultant as the regulations (and the interpretations) change from time to time. I can recommend someone if you wish. (There are some unreliable people in this business, I'm afraid.) - Dave
