I'm a 30 year woman finishing up my bachelors degree and want to be able to do an exchange. My school has an exchange with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland and I am wondering what peoples experience is with exchanges there (or specifically in Olten). I hear it's very expensive and wondering if that just relatively speaking and if it's a fun exchange. All experience and comments are welcome!

I am a 24 year old MFL teacher and EAL and Personalised learning teaching assistant. While studying French at UNIGE in 2021, I met my boyfriend who is Swiss and lives in Geneva, and we've been doing long-distance ever since, and I am now trying to find a way to move there to be with him- a feat made harder by Brexit! Ideally, I want to find employment at one of the international schools as an English or Spanish teacher, but I really just want to be able to live with him anyway possible!

Hello to everybody, I am an Italian who retired in Switzerlan (Luhano, Ticino) after having worked in several locations, including Switzerlan (Geneva). In total I have spent over 10 years in Switzerland, which I consider my second country and my home.

Hi to all expats living in Switzerland,
I am an Australian (living in Canberra working in technology, climate change and health with a government agency). I have lived abroad for 20 years (15 years in New York and 5 in London). During those 20 years I worked in marketing science with pharmaceutical and large IT companies (I've had my own company since 2003 operating in the US and Australia). I'm feeling "hemmed in" in this country as it is quite insular. Apologies to my fellow Australians on this forum, but it seems about 15 years behind the rest of the world. I would like to get back to a more expansive world view in scope of work and life. My focus area was international marketing research and strategy when I lived in New York and London.
I'm considering a permanent move to Switzerland for a few reasons. It is the most beautiful country in the world - I love hiking, it is a global center and home to many pharmaceutical companies, and it is also my favourite place for a holiday!
I've made significant moves like this in the past from Sydney to London and then London to New York, so I know what it feels like to be an expat. I thought it would be great to connect with people in this forum to learn more about Switzerland.

Swiss born, married, 4 children (one living in Switzerland in the canton of FR). Living in Florida, USA, for the past 40 years. Own business. Fed up with mass shootings, gun violence, lying and violent politicians. Returning to Switzerland to give my younger children a life in safety and culture.

Gruess Gott!
Not sure where we are going yet, maybe Switzerland, maybe Andorra but we are looking for a nice, simple, quiet life with much natural beauty, a place that is safe and peaceful.
