By Joshua Wood, LPC

Last updated on Jan 10, 2024

Summary: Many expats and digital nomads move to Nigeria for its vibrant culture, diverse population, and growing economy. They are also attracted to the country's low cost of living and the opportunity to experience a new way of life. People can find a place to live in Nigeria by searching online for rental properties, or by asking friends and family for recommendations. The most popular cities for expats and digital nomads in Nigeria are Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.

What do I need to know before moving to Nigeria?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Nigeria, they said:

"Before moving to Nigeria, expats should be aware of the country's political and security situation. It is important to research the local laws and customs, and to be aware of the potential risks of living in Nigeria. Expats should also be aware of the cost of living in Nigeria, as it is generally higher than in many other countries. Additionally, expats should make sure to obtain the necessary visas and permits before travelling to Nigeria. Finally, expats should be aware of the climate in Nigeria, as it can be very hot and humid," commented one expat who made the move to Nigeria.
