What do I need to know before moving to Nice?
When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Nice, they said:
"Nice is a beautiful, vibrant city located on the French Riviera. It has a Mediterranean climate with mild temperatures throughout the year making it an attractive destination for expats. While French is the official language, English is widely spoken in Nice and most locals are friendly and welcoming to newcomers. While it may be tempting to spend most of your time at the beach, Nice has much more to offer, such as a rich cultural scene, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a wide variety of outdoor activities for all ages and interests. Before moving to Nice, it is important to research the city’s visa requirements and ensure you have the proper paperwork to stay legally in France. Additionally, since Nice is situated on the coast, it is advisable to investigate potential housing options and find accommodations that are in the city center and within your budget. Knowing the local culture, customs, and language can also help make the transition smoother, so reach out to local expat groups and take advantage of language exchange meet-ups and culture classes," replied a member in Nice, France.
