What do expats find most challenging?
"Expats in Kathmandu often find the language barrier to be one of the most challenging aspects of the local culture. Additionally, the city's traffic and air pollution can be overwhelming for those who are not used to it. Furthermore, the city's conservative culture can be difficult to adjust to, as it is quite different from many other places in the world. Finally, the cost of living in Kathmandu can be high, making it difficult for expats to find affordable housing and other necessities," replied an expat in Kathmandu.
"Bandhs, Maoists, load shedding, bad water supply, and everyone asking me if I can get them a visa," remarked one in Kathmandu.
Is there a lot of crime in Kathmandu?
We asked people if there is a lot of crime. They answered:
"Kathmandu has seen an increase in crime in recent years. Petty theft, such as pickpocketing and bag snatching, is common in tourist areas. Violent crime, such as robbery and assault, is also on the rise. The city has seen an increase in drug-related crime, as well as organized crime. The police are working to combat these issues, but the crime rate remains high," remarked one in Kathmandu.
Is there a lot of diversity? Are people in Kathmandu accepting of differences?
"Kathmandu is a culturally diverse city, with a mix of Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim populations. People of different ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds live side by side in Kathmandu, and there is a strong sense of acceptance and tolerance for differences. People of all backgrounds are welcomed and respected in Kathmandu, and the city is known for its vibrant and diverse culture," explained one expat.
What are the schools in Kathmandu like?

"My two kids love it, it is like a big family house, where parents can take part in some action and decision. If you want a big school with lots of extra curriculum activities in sport and or social activities for parents then you rather go to other school. If you want to be in close to the children type of school, bilingual with small classes and great staff, then come, you will love this house, school, family," remarked one parent with kids at International French School of Kathmandu in Kathmandu.
