What advice do overseas retirees have for others considering retiring abroad?

"Research the cost of living, tax rates, health care, social and cultural norms, availability of public services, and safety record of potential retirement destinations carefully. Also, look into the availability of activities and infrastructure to meet personal needs. Consider the climate, language and culture of a new home in more detail than you might imagine. Speak with other expat retirees in the area to get the best information on the area. It is helpful to become familiar with the local language in order to be able to navigate common interactions. Take the time to get to know the area, tap into local knowledge and resources, and find ways to connect with the local population, both through formal and informal networks. Learn about the logistics of immigrating and also explore exchange rates, transfer credit and banking systems with regard to pensions and other income sources for retiree needs," said a retiree who moved to Princeton, United States.

What are the most challenging aspects of retiring in Princeton?

"One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Princeton is the high cost of living. The median home price in Princeton is significantly higher than the national average, making it difficult for retirees to find affordable housing. Additionally, the taxes in Princeton are higher than in many other parts of the state, which can be a burden for retirees on a fixed income. Finally, Princeton is a small town with limited amenities, so retirees may find it difficult to find activities and services that meet their needs," remarked one retiree in Princeton.
