What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Dubai?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Dubai about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"1. Make sure to research the healthcare system in Dubai and find a doctor or midwife that you trust and feel comfortable with. 2. Consider taking a childbirth education class to help you prepare for the birth. 3. Make sure to have a birth plan in place and discuss it with your healthcare provider. 4. Have a support system in place, such as family or friends, to help you during the pregnancy and after the baby is born. 5. Make sure to have all the necessary documents in order, such as a birth certificate and passport, before the baby is born. 6. Consider joining a local expat group or online forum to connect with other expats who have had babies in Dubai. 7. Research the different childcare options available in Dubai and decide which one is best for you and your family. 8. Have a plan in place for how you will manage the transition back to your home country, if applicable," remarked another expat in Dubai, the UAE.
"Visit all the hospitals to see what you think; ask around - see what people have experienced, especially with the new hospitals. If you don't mind 'roughing it' a bit, go to Al Wasl as it has the best equipment for SCBU and premature babies, and it is cheaper than the big international hospitals," said a member in Dubai, UAE.
