"Plan ahead and ensure that you have all the necessary paperwork, including any relevant visa documents, prior to the arrival of the baby. Seek out the best prenatal care available and take the time to research which hospital best suits your needs. Selecting a physician who speaks your language is also advised. Be mindful of the language barrier and be prepared to communicate with the medical staff in both English and Chinese. Be diligent about food, water and air quality as the environment in Dongguang may differ from your home country. Take some time to familiarize yourself with emergency facilities in case of health complications. Lastly, get involved with the expat community and join local parenting groups – these will provide a great support system," remarked another expat who made the move to Dongguang, China, China.
