"It is important to research the medical facilities in the area before having a baby in Ojochal. Make sure to find a doctor or midwife who is experienced in delivering babies in the area and who speaks your language. It is also important to have a plan for transportation to the hospital in case of an emergency. Additionally, it is important to be aware of the cultural norms and expectations for childbirth in Costa Rica, such as the presence of a doula or midwife during labor. Finally, it is important to be prepared for the cost of having a baby in Costa Rica, as it can be more expensive than in other countries," commented one expat who made the move to Ojochal, Costa Rica.
