What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Santa Ana. They wrote...
"Expats in Santa Ana often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and it can be difficult to communicate without a basic understanding of Spanish. The slower pace of life, known as "Tico time", can also be a challenge for those used to a more fast-paced, punctual lifestyle. Additionally, the local cuisine may be a challenge for some, as it is quite different from Western food. The high level of noise, especially during festivals and celebrations, can also be a challenge for those not used to it. Lastly, the lack of certain amenities and services that they might be used to in their home countries, such as high-speed internet or certain healthcare services, can also be challenging for some expats," remarked another expat in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.
