What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Patras. They wrote...
"Expats in Patras often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and the Greek language can be difficult to learn. The pace of life can also be a challenge, as it is typically slower than what many expats are used to, which can be frustrating when trying to get things done. Additionally, the Greek concept of time, which is more relaxed and flexible than in many other cultures, can be difficult for expats to adjust to. The bureaucracy in Greece can also be a challenge, as it can be complex and time-consuming. Lastly, while Greeks are generally warm and hospitable, it can sometimes be difficult for expats to break into local social circles and truly feel a part of the community," commented one expat who made the move to Patras, Greece.
